Will Wright - Designer of malleable software worlds
LEGO - Designers of malleable hardware worlds
Google - Designers of positive-sum information flows
Steve Jobs - Designer of a cult of excellence
J.K. Rowling - Designer of an epic rite of passage narrative that appeals to all ages.
These are the designers that impacted me:
1. The Steve's, Wozniak and Jobs for designing the Mac.
2. Tom Robbins: for designing sentences that dance off the page into the imagination.
3. Michael Polin: designer of a new way to think about food.
4. Lawrence Lessig, for thinking about how to design collaboration
5. A negative one: this is to the city planners in the US that designed highways and thruways that made it easy to get out of cities using loops, ramps, and exits. They killed cities in the last part of the 20th century and will hopefully be designed out of cities in the first half of this century.
